La Trobe University Hockey Club is proud to celebrate two members recognised at the 2025 La Trobe University Blues Awards.
Taya Stuart, accepting Coach of the Year
Women’s 1s Head Coach Taya Stuart was honoured for her leadership in guiding the team to a remarkable premiership following a difficult 2024 campaign. Her ability to rebuild morale, integrate young players, and foster resilience was central to the team’s finals success, capped by a late winning goal in the Grand Final. Taya’s impact extended beyond match day through skill development, junior support, and a strong focus on mindset and wellbeing, leaving a lasting legacy at the club.
Warwick Oliver, accepting Outstanding Service
The Blues Awards also recognised Warwick Oliver for Outstanding Service to Sport. A former Uni Games and AHL representative, Warwick has contributed to the club for two decades through team leadership, committee service, and successful fundraising. His most significant achievement has been driving the development of the club’s new pavilion, working closely with Darebin City Council, architects and builders whilst lobbying the university, and Hockey Victoria and Australia to bring the long-awaited facility to life. Warwick is one of the university’s most decorated students/alumni, previously winning Half Blue and Full Blues in the early 2000s.
Taya and Warwick continue the tradition of club members being acknowledged for their contributions.
