If your child is new to hockey, we run programs throughout the year to introduce them to them to the sport, learn basic skills and have fun. These are generally for children under 10 years old.
Hookin2Hockey runs in Term 2 and Stick2Hockey runs in Term 3. While we encourage beginners to start with Hookin2Hockey, this is not compulsory. Both are designed as pathways into our Juniors Winter Competition.
Sessions run on Wednesday nights, 5.30pm – 6.15pm at KP Hardiman Reserve (Plenty Road, Bundoora).
This program is coached by Alex Tan, who is also our Men’s Head Coach.
Hookin2Hockey gives young boys and girls the opportunity to learn the basic skills and rules of hockey. The program is fun and safe – designed for beginners to get involved, make friends and start a lifelong love of hockey.
Registration and fees are processed directly through Hockey Australia. This is $65 per participant, which includes a playing shirt, hockey stick, shin pads, hockey ball and a participation certificate. Children must bring their own mouthguard.
Stick2Hockey is a natural progression from Hookin2Hockey and helps participants develop their skills further as the move toward traditional club hockey. This program introduces modified game formats and an intra-club competition.
We are proud to offer the most affordable membership fees in Melbourne. Please see our fees for more information.
Term 2 – Hookin2Hockey: TBA (around June) (changed due to COVID)
Term 3 – Stick2Hockey: TBA (around August) (changed due to COVID)
You do not need to register for the first session, just come down! For Hookin2Hockey, each child receives their introduction pack in the mail once registered with Hockey Australia, and can use club equipment until then.
