KP Hardiman Approved for Redevelopment

La Trobe University Hockey Club is pleased to announce the redevelopment of KP Hardiman Reserve hockey field has been approved.

Last week Darebin City Council approved their 20/21 Budget and will proceed with a $2.56m field redevelopment. This includes $1.9m of previously approved budget, $262k in grant funding from the State Government and a further $372k in the new budget.

The project will redevelop the current hockey field, including shifting the ground a few metres further away from Plenty Road through significant landscaping. The scope of the project also includes lighting, fencing and shelters.

A number of years in the works, the club would like to thank Darebin City Council for their ongoing support of the club. This investment allows the club to compete at the highest level while also providing a safer experience for our members and spectators. During the season these facilities are used every night of the week and all weekend, for over 350 local Girls and Boys, Men, Women and Masters.

The club will continue to work with the council to influence planning to best meet the needs of our 21 teams and broader supporter network. Plans and timings will be shared with members in the coming weeks and months. The club hopes to have construction finalised before the 2021 season.

This is a critical step forward in our long term strategy to build new a new pavilion next to the ground within five years.
