A huge grand final week just got bigger with the Men’s Masters 50s B team taking home the flag on Wednesday night.
This is La Trobe University Hockey Club’s fourth premiership for the season so far, with two more up for grabs this weekend.
Having outgrown a number of seasons in the 45s, this was the team’s first year in 50s playing on a Wednesday night. They finished second on the ladder against Greensborough, who they played in the first and third week of finals.
In the end the Gunners were too strong, finishing the premiership match 3-1 up.
President Tim Lonergan, who played in the match having rushed back from a trip in England, said “Steve Smith was good in the Ashes, but GVM has more YouTube followers.”
