It’s been an action packed year for the La Trobe University Hockey Club, culminating in four teams making finals across all levels of the club including Seniors, as well as our growing Masters and Juniors program.
Our Women’s 3s in Pennant E finished top of the table, winning 14 games of their 18. They play Hawthorn this weekend at home with a second round chance or a jump straight into the Grand Final.
Our Men’s 5s also had a strong year, finishing 2nd in Metro A East. They’re up against Doncaster at Doncaster, again with the second chance or promotion straight through to the Premiership match.
The club also saw success outside of Seniors program. This year the Juniors had a huge season, who continue to grow and go from strength to strength with more teams ever already scheduled for 2017. Our Under 12 Mixed Pennant North West team finished top of the table, taking home 12 wins from 14 games. The first round of finals (played a week earlier than the rest of the season) saw our young guns up against Camberwell, and finished the game with a 1-1 draw. As the higher team, we progress straight through to the Grand Final next week.
This year also saw our biggest season of Masters ever, the first time in the Club’s history that three teams took the field. Our Men’s 35s finished third in B North West, who play Maccabi at Home in a knock out game.
