Following the announcement last week of Greg Van Meewuen’s appointment as the Men’s VicLeague 1 Coach, the La Trobe University Hockey Club is very excited to announce that Meryl McGlone has signed on as the Women’s VicLeague 1 Coach for season 2013.
“Meryl has been an outstanding leader for La Trobe Women’s hockey for the past decade, her experience, commitment and dedication will be fantastic for the VicLeague 1 Women in 2013”, La Trobe University Hockey Club President Zac Martin said.
“The La Trobe University Hockey Club women continue to dominate women’s University hockey in Victoria. Last season we ranked higher than both Melbourne and Monash Universities and we hope to continue to show the depth of talent in women’s hockey at La Trobe University in 2013.”
Meryl’s hockey achievements at La Trobe University are nothing short of extraordinary. She has won the coveted Kizanne Davies Women’s 1s Best & Fairest Shield an amazing seven times in her 11 years at the club.
In addition Meryl has led the Women’s 1s from State League 3 to VicLeague 1 as captain, including many tough finals campaigns.
“We would like to thank Geoff Peacock for his outstanding achievements and commitment to our Women’s 1s squad for the last two seasons that saw us progress from State League 3 in 2010 to VicLeague 1 in 2013.”
