The La Trobe University Club has been announced as the winner of the Good Sports Club Award for 2012 in the Darebin Regional Category.
Having first signed up to the program in mid 2011, the Club has been recognised to have “gone above and beyond in promoting the values of the program – which helps clubs provide safe and family-friendly environments through the responsible management of alcohol”.
The Good Sports winners were announced during the Australian Drug Foundation’s Dame Elisabeth Murdoch Oration following the address by the NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione, who spoke about the amount of police time spent dealing with the consequences of alcohol-related crime and anti-social behaviour.
The hockey club continues to introduce new programs and initiatives to maintain its reputation as a leading sports club in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne.
