Round 1
Great start for our summer comp this week besides the car parking and the disturbing American fashion of fat men in tights next door on the grass. Any complaints about results, goal scorers, etc, send them to Rob and blame your captains! We are looking at new team names as well so put your heads together and come up with something. Next week as stated, man of the match and encourage awards to new players (new to the game, new to the club) will be awarded in the form of a free item off the BBQ and a drink. Also next week, we will be allocating BBQ duties so the work load is spread amongst all players. We have a few new players down at the club so if you don’t know their face, introduce yourself and make them feel at home. Over the next few weeks with O-week, you will see more new faces. And remember your match payments of $30 for the season or $5 per game.
Match wise, there was a dispute over the Blackburn/Erickson result but we believe a Life Member over a player who was able define the term aqua bog to the club. There were 20 goal scorers from Wednesday night and two teams managed to get bonus points which shoots them to the top of the ladder. Meryl led her team to a convincing victory over Ron Burgundy’s crew whilst the Erickson family controversially defeated Blacker/Amy’s team. Todd’s Heroes (Vet’s) were too strong for Fetus’ Kit Shunts where the game motto was “hack the bone”. Sheepy’s team which didn’t contain their best 3 players, overcame Kube’s crew. New player Ben Hart makes strides into the club by leading our goal scoring ladder closely followed by boardshorts McMahon, Meryl and daughter of a legend Sophie Erickson.
