It is with great excitement to announce that La Trobe University Hockey Club has received a $3,000 grant from VicHealth and the State Government.
The money will be used to fund equipment for our growing club, maintain low fees that are also subsidised through funds supplied by La Trobe University and to entice new members to join the club.
The club was very fortunate to be among hundreds of sport and recreation clubs across Victoria that received a donation that collectively totaled $746,000.
Whilst this unearthed numerous advantages for the club itself, the grants created a positive effect to the wider community as highlighted by Minister for Health, Jill Hennessy.
“These grants are fantastic because they encourage more sports and recreational activity, often reaching new audiences by adapting programs to suit changing needs, and providing the real sense of community that comes from being part of a local club,” Ms Hennessy said.
La Trobe Hockey Club boast 16 teams combined across Juniors, Seniors and Masters, as well as over 50 Hookin2Hockey members.
The VicLeague squad start their season on the 2nd of April whilst the remaining senior teams will start on the 16th of April, in the club’s 49th year.
