Jackson Van Meeuwen Represents National Under 18s

La Trobe University Hockey Club was proud to see former member Jackson Van Meeuwen (left) representing Victoria at the National Under 18’s carnival. After a successful tournament the team finished runners up to NSW.

Jackson, or “Bieber” as many know him by, excelled during the week, including scoring the opening goal of the carnival. He also played a key role in the semi final, hitting two goals sending the Victorians into the final, including one trademark tomahawk.

Jackson has previously played State League at the Club for the last three seasons and last year played alongside his father Greg in the State League 4 Premiership team. He has now joined his brother Dane at Greensborough to play State League 1, in the hope of higher representative honours.

“It was my first national tournament and was a really good experience for me to play against the best hockey players in Australia for my age group” said Jackson. “Hopefully I will play in another one in the years to come.”

We congratulate young Jackson on his outstanding efforts for Victoria – his performance is a testament to his hard work, often training three or four times a week while playing two games a weekend, and completing his VCE.

We like to wish him all the best for his future hockey endeavors.
