Alex Tan appointed Men’s Head Coach & Hookin2Hockey Coach for 2022
La Trobe University Hockey Club is excited to announce the appointment of Alex Tan as the Men’s Head Coach for 2022. In addition, Alex will also step in as Coach of the club’s Hookin2Hockey program.
Alex joins the Gunners from Yarra Valley Hockey Club where he coached the Women’s Reserves in Premier League. Alex will continue to work with Junior State Championships representative team, the North West Tigers.
Alex has previously represented Victoria at junior national level and has played several Australian University Games with La Trobe University, making him a familiar face around the club.
“What a time to be joining La Trobe, with an outstanding new pitch and lots of talented juniors already playing Vic League hockey. There’s strong foundations to work with” Alex Tan said. “Once restrictions are eased, I’m eager to meet with the group and get the 2022 campaign underway”.
“We’re very excited to have someone like Alex join the Gunners”, Vice President Phil Nguyen said. “With the new field, a great new coach and solid results from the Vic League group in 2021, the Men are well placed to push for promotion back Vic League 1. We continue to invest in Juniors and with Alex leading our Hookin2Hockey program, we add depth of our juniors and build stronger pathways into Seniors.”
Alex joins immediately and is already planning preseason which will commence shortly, post lockdowns.
