9 Teams Progress in Finals

Nine teams from the La Trobe University Hockey Club have progressed through to second round or Premiership finals across Juniors, Seniors and Masters.

Juniors, who play only two rounds of finals, will see three grand finals this weekend. The Under 12 Boys will play Footscray after knocking out MCC in an elimination. The Under 12s Girls will join them playing TEM after knocking out Knox. In the Under 14s the Mixed team were knocked out by PEGS, but the Girls will play Brunswick on Friday night after beating Camberwell.

It was a tough first round of finals for our Seniors, with our Women’s 1s, Men’s 3s, and Men’s 6s all going down in eliminations. But a strong performance by the Women’s 4s kept their finals chances alive in a knockout game against ECHO. They’ll play KBH this weekend for a chance to play in the premiership.  The Men’s 5s beat Doncaster and progress straight through to the Premiership in two weeks.

In Masters the Women’s 35s went down to Werribee, but have a second chance this Wednesday night at the State Netball Hockey Centre. The Men’s 50s cleaned up Greensborough and also progress straight through to the Premiership in two weeks. The 45s knocked out Camberwell and will join a few other Gunners squads as they walk straight into the premiership game in two weeks.
