La Trobe Lands Bronze at Southern Uni Games

SouthernMen
Like most years, the La Trobe University team at the 2016 Southern University Games was well represented by the La Trobe University Hockey Club. Held this weekend in Footscray, the Men walked away with a Bronze medal, while the Women just missed our in the final to finish fourth.

The lads had a very successful week, kicking things off against Deakin with a very evenlmy matched game, only to score a winning upset in the last four minutes. The Men would see Deakin again in the bronze medal match, this time comfortably walking away with a 2-0 lead to take home third. Max Ferrier domainted up forward and picked up seven goals throughout the week, helping the team secure a place in First Division at the Australian University Games in September. This is the first time the team has competed at that level since 2007.

The Women also had a big week, just missing out on the bronze as well going down to Victoria University 1-3.

Well done to both the teams who will go on to compete at the Australian University Games in Perth later this year. Thanks also to Joel Comer and Georgia Morsely who were Team Managers.
