Welcome to La Trobe Uni Hockey Club, the premier hockey club in the northern suburbs of Melbourne with over 14 sides catering for students, locals and juniors of all skill levels, from state league players to beginners. Anyone is welcome to join our club, not just students though the majority of the club are La Trobe students, current and past. The club is home to many country and interstate players who come to Melbourne and has a constant inflow of international players. The club boasts well over 220 playing members and is La Trobe Uni’s largest female sporting club. Some of our players have international experience, as well as experience at AHL and EHL level. In the off-season we hold our own social summer hockey comp as well as competing in Hockey Victoria summer hockey competitions. The club, due to it’s local support and backing by the university, has the cheapest fees in Victoria.
The club was established in 1967 and has had a long history of success in all grades, with the men and women’s 1sts and 2nds playing and winning numerous finals in recent times, leading to promotion to Vic League 1. We have a number high calibre coaches to help players in all grades.
Off the field, we are just as successful with an excellent social calendar and a small turnover rate from season to season due to our enjoyable club culture. We have many different functions appealing to all our members. Along with our functions, all club members are very sociable and we have quite a diverse playing group. The club is a proud supporter of the Fair go, Sport! program.
Our home ground is in at an easy to reach location on Plenty Road (Mel Ref: 19 C6 ), with a tram stop in front of the ground and only a stones throw away from the La Trobe Uni Bundoora campus. Training is Tuesday and Thursday night from 7pm throughout the season. A hard nights training always concludes with cold drinks and hot food back in the club rooms with our extremely popular weekly raffle.
