Former Gunner Receives Hockey Victoria Life Membership

At the 2012 Hockey Victoria AGM, La Trobe University Hockey Club was pleased to hear Bob Peebles was announced as a Life Member of the Hockey Victoria Association.

Bob has long been involved in hockey and has made a significant contribution to hockey in both Victoria and Australia over a lengthy period in an extensive range of roles.

His association with hockey in Victoria began in 1972 with the La Trobe University Hockey Club when the club was only 6 years old. He played for a number of years in the Men’s 1s and represented the club at the Inter Varsity. He also served a member of the Club’s committee.

Following his graduation from La Trobe University, Bob moved across to Greensborough where he would go on to serve on the Club’s committee from 1981 until 1987, and was elected President in his final two years. In 1994 he was elected to the Board of the Victorian Hockey Association and was President for the 1997/1998 period. He was elected to the Board of the Australian Hockey Association in 1996 and served for a period of 10 years. Bob was also the team Manager for the Victorian Men’s Under 21 team for the period 1993 to 1998. Finally, he represented at State level for the Veterans over many years.

The La Trobe University Hockey Club would like to congratulate the former Gunner on his Life Membership Award.
