The La Trobe University Hockey Club is pleased to announce that Greg Van Meeuwen (left) has been appointed the Men’s VicLeague 1 Coach for season 2013.
“This is a great achievement for our club, Greg is a previous State League 1 player and Premiership Coach and brings outstanding experience and knowledge to the role” La Trobe University Hockey Club President Zac Martin said.
“We have a very competitive list of players in our Men’s VicLeague 1 squad and are confident that with Greg at the helm as coach we will give a good account of ourselves in VicLeague 1 this season.”
Greg’s hockey CV is impeccable, having played State League 1 and coached and played in two State League 3 premierships with La Trobe University, coached the Greensborough Women to a State League 1 premiership and coached hockey at a provincial level in Canada. Greg is also one of the elite players in Masters hockey for Victoria which has led to his selection in the Australian team.
The La Trobe University Hockey Club has nearly 500 players, family, friends and supporters across the Northern suburbs of Melbourne and will field 6 senior Men’s Teams, a Men’s Masters team, 5 senior women’s teams and at least 2 junior teams in 2013. This makes La Trobe the fastest growing and arguably strongest northern suburbs hockey club.
“We would like to thank Mathew Trounce for his outstanding achievements and commitment to our Men’s 1s squad for the last three seasons that saw us progress from State League 5 in 2009 to VicLeague 1 in 2013.”
